Export procedures

There are many species and hybrids to choose from in our price list. Upon ordering plants, we will send a quote confirming the quantities desired, specifying the value of each plant, possible discounts applied to orders over $1,000, shipping cost, CITES and phytosanitary certificate charges ($75), and small packing and shipping charges.

Customers must be aware of their country’s import regulations (phyto and CITES certificates are usually required) and inform us about any additional quarantine requirement. Some countries require a specific pest free declaration, or phytosanitary certificate. We can assist with import and export procedures based on our experience with shipping to many countries. The total value of plants and other charges must be paid in advance before we ship. A wire transfer from your bank to our bank account in Panama is usually preferred.  Western Union transfers or mailing an international money order is also acceptable. Pay pal or mailing a check to a US address we provide are options for US customers. We e-mail payment information for wire transfers and other options, once your order has been confirmed.Plants are shipped from Panama by airfreight to any international destination (airport to airport) or by Express Air Mail Service (EMS), or a worldwide postal service (post office to post office).

Airfreight shipments arrive to their destination in 1–2 days. Thailand shipments via KLM Panama – Amsterdam – Bangkok arrive the day following shipping from Panama.  Shipments to American or European countries and Caribbean islands arrive in one day. We deliver the plants to the Panama airport a few hours before flight departure. Airfreight shipments can be insured, but the minimum charge is $35 for a plant value up to $2,500. The airfreight minimum charge allows shipment of a 45 kg volume – weight.  We can provide the minimum cost depending on the country of destination.

EMS shipments take 7–10 days to arrive. Although the weight cost is higher than airfreight, it is advisable for small weight shipments. We pack plants for shipments with roots wrapped in moist coconut fiber in a plastic mesh bag so that plants stay in good conditions while shipping long distances.
